THE PATIENT JOURNEY
YOUR FIRST CONSULTATION
During your first visit, Julie will complete a thorough history and examination this may also involve an ultrasound scan, which is a painless straightforward procedure. This is to determine the diagnosis and plan the best treatment.
She will then explain the diagnosis and the pros and cons of treatments. She will outline the types of treatment available and recommend the appropriate one for you.
You will be provided with information leaflets explaining your condition and the recommended treatment.
If you decide upon treatment, the time for this will be planned to best suit you.
TREATMENT
Julie has a particular interest in minimally invasive treatments – radiofrequency ablation or sclerotherapy. These are carried out at Orthoderm or The Fitzwilliam Clinic.
Open surgery is performed only at the Fitzwilliam Clinic and is done as a daycase.
Both are very straightforward procedures and the risks and complications minimal. On discharge you will be provided with an information leaflet and contact numbers in the unlikely event that you should have any problems.
AFTER TREATMENT
You will be seen after 3 months to ensure that you are happy with the treatment. At that stage any further treatment can be planned if necessary.
